Commercial Estimator - Roofing & Metal Systems

About the Role
We need a sharp commercial roofing estimator who can turn complex drawings and specs into accurate, winning bids—especially someone who understands metal roofing systems and retrofit opportunities.

You'll be the bridge between opportunity and execution, working closely with sales, project management, and field operations to ensure every estimate is competitive, thorough, and sets projects up for success.

What You'll Do

Estimating & Takeoffs

• Analyze bid documents, drawings, and specifications for commercial roofing projects
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and project duration
• Develop comprehensive cost models using industry-standard estimating software

Research & Collaboration

• Conduct on-site surveys and building assessments when needed
• Coordinate with field teams to gather data and validate assumptions
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from material suppliers and subcontractors
• Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers and vendor partners

Proposal Development

• Prepare professional bid packages and proposals
• Present estimates to clients and participate in scope discussions
• Offer value-engineering alternatives to enhance competitiveness
• Ensure smooth handoff to project management with aligned budgets

Continuous Improvement

• Update and maintain the estimating database
• Track bid outcomes, cost trends, and benchmarking data
• Contribute insights that improve accuracy and margins

What You Bring

Required

• 3–5 years of commercial roofing estimating experience (5+ years preferred)
• Strong understanding of metal roofing systems is a major plus
• Proficiency reading architectural and structural drawings
• Experience with Bluebeam, EDGE Estimating, or similar takeoff tools
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel especially)
• Excellent analytical abilities, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Ability to juggle multiple bids, meet deadlines, and work independently

Preferred

• Expertise in metal panel systems, retrofit applications, and metal deck assemblies
• Construction management or engineering background
• Knowledge of Colorado building codes and regulations
