Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead the commercial team’s day to day: assign/rebalance work, run brief huddles, coach staff, and perform quality checks to hit filing and hearing deadlines.
- Manage cases and calendars: compute rule-based deadlines; schedule hearings, mediations, depos, arbitrations, and trials; coordinate attorney appearances; prepare/serve notices.
- Draft, proof, cite-check, e-file, and serve pleadings, motions, declarations, exhibits, and proposed orders in state/federal courts and arbitration forums.
- Support discovery: prepare shells for requests/responses and subpoenas; coordinate client document collection; oversee Bates/privilege logs; track compliance; summarize key responses/depositions.
- Prepare for hearings/mediation/trial: witness and exhibit lists, binders/notebooks, appearance instructions; coordinate witness attendance and exhibit exchange.
- Post-result tasks: notices of ruling, orders, judgments, dismissals, memoranda of costs; support enforcement as needed.
- Coordinate with clients, courts, and vendors; prepare client declarations for signature; maintain organized matter workspaces and accurate document naming/metadata.
- Maintain and improve SOPs/templates; uphold confidentiality, client guidelines, and firm policies. (Notary services if commissioned.)
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program required; bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years litigation paralegal experience; commercial litigation strongly preferred.
- 1+ year supervising or leading legal support staff (assigning work, monitoring queues, and reviewing quality).
- Knowledge of civil procedure, local rules, and e-filing/service in state and federal courts; familiarity with arbitration forums.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, PDF tools, e-filing portals, and document/matter management systems.
- Strong legal writing, proofreading, and cite-checking; excellent organization, time management, and communication.
- Discretion and judgment with confidential information; Notary Public commission a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,340.00 - $80,000.00 per year
