Commercial Painter

Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Painter to perform interior and exterior painting on commercial and public works projects. This position requires expertise in surface preparation, coatings application, and compliance with prevailing wage requirements and jobsite protocols. This role is ideal for a journeyman-level painter who takes pride in craftsmanship, works efficiently, and understands the standards required on Davis-Bacon / prevailing wage jobs. Key Responsibilities Prepare surfaces by washing, scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, and priming Apply paints, coatings, sealers, and finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment Perform commercial-grade coatings work including epoxy, urethane, elastomeric, and industrial finishes Read and interpret blueprints, project specifications, and finish schedules Ensure all work meets project specs, quality standards, and inspection requirements Maintain compliance with OSHA safety standards and site-specific safety plans Protect surrounding areas with masking, drop cloths, and containment systems Set up and safely operate ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and sprayers Maintain tools and equipment in working condition Coordinate with supervisors and other trades on jobsite sequencing Accurately track time and tasks for prevailing wage reporting Qualifications 5+ years of commercial painting experience (required) Proven experience on prevailing wage / public works / government projects Strong knowledge of coatings systems, application techniques, and surface prep standards Ability to operate airless sprayers, pressure washers, and specialty equipment Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations Ability to read plans, specs, and submittals Reliable transportation and ability to travel to job sites Ability to work at heights and in varying environmental conditions Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship Preferred Qualifications Completion of a painting apprenticeship program or equivalent training OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Experience with lead-safe work practices (EPA RRP) Experience with industrial or high-performance coatings Scissor lift / boom lift certification

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $91.00 per hour
