We operate across fuel supply, logistics infrastructure, and decentralized energy systems, developing practical energy solutions where structural supply constraints limit industrial and transport growth.


As part of our long-term strategy, Energetech, together with our partners, is advancing a Small-Scale LNG (SSLNG) platform in Tanzania. The initiative is designed to monetize domestic gas resources through decentralized liquefaction and a virtual pipeline distribution model, supplying LNG to industrial users and heavy transport fleets currently reliant on diesel.


The objective is to establish a commercially bankable LNG distribution platform capable of scaling regionally over time.


The Role


Energetech is seeking a Commercial & Project Development Manager to play a central role in progressing the SSLNG platform from development through to execution.

This is a pre-FID role focused primarily on:


  • Market development
  • Commercial structuring
  • Offtake strategy
  • Regulatory coordination
  • Infrastructure planning


The successful candidate will contribute directly to building the demand case required to support investment decisions, structuring commercially viable LNG supply agreements, coordinating with regulatory stakeholders, and preparing the platform for operational rollout.


As the project progresses, the role is expected to transition into broader operational oversight.

This is a build-and-scale mandate, not a maintenance position.


Core Responsibilities


1. Market & Demand Development

  • Map diesel consumption across transport corridors and industrial clusters
  • Identify high-volume fleet operators and industrial fuel consumers
  • Develop detailed LNG substitution and fuel-switch economics
  • Build structured LNG value propositions
  • Secure Letters of Intent (LOIs) and preliminary offtake agreements
  • Support anchor customer acquisition strategy


2. Commercial Structuring & Contracting

  • Design LNG pricing frameworks linked to diesel benchmarks
  • Structure take-or-pay and capacity reservation models
  • Develop term sheets and commercial frameworks suitable for project financing
  • Support internal financial modeling with volume and margin scenarios
  • Contribute to risk allocation across supply, transport, and offtake


3. Regulatory & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with relevant Tanzanian energy and gas authorities
  • Support licensing and compliance processes related to liquefaction and LNG distribution
  • Ensure commercial structuring aligns with applicable legislation
  • Coordinate with industrial customers and sector stakeholders


4. Infrastructure & Operational Planning (Pre-Execution)

  • Interface with EPC contractors and technology providers
  • Contribute to liquefaction facility scoping and distribution strategy
  • Develop virtual pipeline logistics framework
  • Support design of LNG trucking and storage strategy
  • Establish operational readiness framework for commissioning phase


5. Transition to Execution

Upon progression to execution phase, the role will expand to include:

  • Oversight of LNG distribution operations
  • Customer account management
  • Supply reliability management
  • Margin and cost monitoring
  • Contribution to operational team build-out


Candidate Profile


We are seeking a commercially strong infrastructure professional with:


  • 7–12 years’ experience in LNG, CNG, gas-to-industry, or industrial fuel supply
  • Experience in project development or infrastructure build-out environments
  • Strong commercial modeling and contract negotiation capability
  • Ability to structure fuel substitution economics
  • Experience engaging regulators or state stakeholders
  • East Africa experience preferred
  • High autonomy, execution discipline, and entrepreneurial mindset
