Purpose

As a Commercial Specialist - Payments, you will spearhead Ooredoo Money's payment acceptance growth by scaling acquiring channels, introducing innovative payment methods, and driving commercial success across our payment ecosystem. You'll be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of our payments and WPS (Salary payments) Business, establishing strategic partnerships, and leveraging data-driven insights to optimize payment channel performance. This role combines commercial acumen with deep payments expertise to accelerate our market penetration in Qatar's evolving payments landscape.

Role Accountabilities

Payment Channel Scaling & Commercial Development

  • Lead the commercial strategy and rollout of new acquiring channels including Soft POS solutions, payment gateways, and emerging acceptance channels
  • Develop comprehensive commercial models and pricing strategies for each payment acceptance channel to maximize revenue and market penetration
  • Drive merchant acquisition strategies and manage commercial negotiations with potential payment acceptance partners
  • Establish and optimize fee structures, commercial terms, and incentive programs for different payment channels
  • Monitor channel performance metrics and implement commercial optimizations to improve transaction volumes and revenue per channel

Payment Methods & Partnership Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and commercially onboard new payment methods and channels within the Ooredoo Money app ecosystem
  • Manage end-to-end commercial relationships with payment method providers, card schemes, partner bank(s) and alternative payment solution partners
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, revenue sharing models, and SLAs with payment partners to ensure optimal commercial outcomes
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for new payment methods, including pricing models and merchant incentives
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new payment methods while maintaining commercial viability

WPS Business Commercial Management

  • Own the commercial P&L for Ooredoo Money's Wage Protection System (WPS) business line
  • Develop and execute scaling strategies to grow WPS transaction volumes, SME base, and revenue contribution
  • Analyze WPS market trends, competitor positioning, and pricing dynamics to optimize commercial strategy
  • Manage key WPS client relationships and negotiate commercial terms with large corporate clients
  • Design and implement commercial incentive programs to drive WPS adoption among employers and employees

Data Analytics & Commercial Intelligence

  • Leverage advanced analytics to identify payment trends, customer behavior patterns, and commercial opportunities across all payment channels
  • Build and maintain comprehensive dashboards tracking payment channel performance, revenue metrics, and commercial KPIs
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses on transaction data to optimize pricing strategies, identify growth opportunities, and improve channel economics
  • Generate actionable insights from payment data to inform commercial strategy, partner negotiations, and market expansion decisions
  • Develop predictive models to forecast payment volume growth, revenue potential, and market opportunities

Cross-Functional Commercial Coordination

  • Collaborate closely with technology, operations, and compliance teams to ensure commercial requirements are integrated into payment solution development
  • Draft detailed Commercial Requirements Documents (CRDs) that translate business objectives into actionable technical and operational specifications
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) for payment solutions, ensuring commercial requirements are met before launch

Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis

  • Monitor payment industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive developments to inform commercial strategy
  • Conduct regular analysis of competitor payment offerings, pricing models, and market positioning
  • Identify emerging payment technologies and assess their commercial viability for Ooredoo Money's ecosystem
  • Support strategic decision-making through comprehensive market intelligence and commercial opportunity assessments

Stakeholder Communication & Reporting

  • Prepare and present regular commercial performance reports to senior management, highlighting payment channel metrics, revenue performance, and growth opportunities
  • Manage stakeholder communications across internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment of commercial objectives
  • Lead commercial discussions with key partners, merchants, and clients to drive business growth and resolve commercial issues

  • P&L for Payments Business
  • Number of merchants, partners, new acceptance channels for driving business growth
  • Customer Satisfaction/Voice of customer score


Experience

  • Master's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in payments, product and/or commercial management, within fintech, banking, or digital financial services
  • Proven track record of managing commercial P&L responsibility and driving revenue growth in payments or financial services


Minimum Entry Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in commercial/business management within fintech, banking, or digital financial services
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred
