Job Overview
This position reports to Business Services Operations Administrator. The Commercial Portfolio Manager / Underwriter may assist with an independent review of loan underwriting conducted on real estate secured and non-real estate secured loans. Underwriting review will include but may not be limited to; review with preparation of an underwriting summary of loans submitted by business loan personnel, assisting the commercial lenders with the preparation of loan presentations, analysis of new and existing loans financial packages - guarantors’ s financial data, tax returns (personal and corporate), income statements, balance sheets, financial statements, trends and business plans. Position requires extensive experience the spreading of tax returns and financial statement, along with spreading or business analytic systems.
This position will also assist department management with overseeing the business loan portfolio to include but not limited to tickler reports, monthly and quarterly reporting requirements. This position will also chair the Business Services policy. This position requires a high level of analytical and organization skills, ability to communicate complex financial subject matter, a thorough understanding of Business Lending programs, policies, and procedures.

Exempt (Salary)
Hours: Monday through Friday, occasional Saturdays

Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related area
-
Thorough knowledge of credit products, commercial lending policy, all applicable laws and regulations, credit quality standards, company and business line policies and procedures

Minimum of 5+ years of credit analysis and/or loan review experience, preferably in the banking industry, and 8 years of related or similar lending experience.

Ensures success of change implementation through business strategy improvement and effective communication strategy for the commercial portfolio

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information and identify risk
- Good understanding of financial industry concepts, related laws, and regulations

- Previous credit union experience is a plus

Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based applications (Excel Pivot Table knowledge a plus)
Role Description and Essential Duties
- Responsible for the review and analysis of financial statements, preparation of loan presentation, assisting the commercial lenders with loan committee presentation for review and approval.

Perform financial statement spreading and analysis on new and existing loan relationships.

Evaluate creditworthiness of borrower and guarantors by evaluating cash flow and debt serviceability.

Conduct market analysis for each loan presentation based on the industry of proposed borrower.
- Calculating financial ratios based on financial statements and data provided.

Providing recommendations/suggestions to commercial lenders of loan structures, payment plans, and interest rates.
- Assist commercial lenders with the writing of loan presentations that are clear and concise using prudent underwriting standards.

Ensure compliance with credit union policies and procedures and applicable regulations.

Communicate with borrowers, guarantors, company controllers, and accountants to gather additional information and interpret financial statements

Provides guidance and answers questions related to credit union and all other related services. Supports cross-selling efforts and solves problems.

Complies with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and regulations, in addition to the Customer Identification Program (CIP).
