Job Description


We are seeking a talented and dedicated Commis I - Cold Kitchen to join our culinary team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will assist in the preparation of cold dishes, salads, and appetizers, contributing to our commitment to culinary excellence and customer satisfaction.

  • Assist in preparing mise-en-place for salads, appetizers, dressings, and cold platters
  • Support the creation of buffet presentations and à la carte cold items
  • Ensure consistent food quality, portion control, and adherence to recipes and plating guidelines for cold dishes
  • Maintain proper storage and freshness of ingredients
  • Keep workstations clean and organized in compliance with HACCP and local regulations
  • Assist senior chefs in daily operations and contribute to a smooth workflow
  • Monitor and record temperatures of refrigerators and cold rooms
  • Manage stock levels and report shortages to senior chefs
  • Uphold safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times
  • Collaborate with other kitchen sections during service
  • Contribute to menu development and seasonal dish creation

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role within a hotel or restaurant setting
  • Solid understanding of culinary techniques, particularly in cold kitchen preparations
  • Proficiency in food safety practices and HACCP principles
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and follow instructions accurately
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Excellent time-management and organizational abilities
  • Passion for culinary excellence and continuous learning
  • Knowledge of international cuisine and current culinary trends
  • Ability to read and follow recipes accurately
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school certificate preferred
