We are seeking an enthusiastic Pastry Commis Chef to join our culinary team. This role provides hands-on training in pastry preparation, baking, and dessert presentation, while supporting senior chefs in delivering high-quality creations that reflect Al Ghalia’s standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Ingredient preparation: Measure, mix, and prepare ingredients for cakes, pastries, breads, and desserts.
- Baking support: Assist in operating ovens, mixers, and other pastry equipment under supervision.
- Mise en place: Set up and maintain the pastry station with all necessary tools and ingredients.
- Decoration assistance: Support plating, garnishing, and decorating of desserts for service.
- Hygiene compliance: Maintain cleanliness of pastry areas, adhering to HACCP standards.
- Stock monitoring: Track usage of pastry ingredients, report shortages, and assist in proper storage.
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of basic pastry techniques (mixing, baking, decorating).
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Creativity and attention to detail in presentation.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or Pastry preferred.
- Prior experience in pastry or bakery operations is an advantage.
- Passion for learning and developing pastry skills.
