Description
The Commodity Manager’s primary function is to ensure the health & outlook of the supply chain; and support the business by creating procurement strategies and plans, based upon budgets, and coordinating project/order related materials, services, and engineering requirements with total transparency to the team. In this role, you will partner collaboratively with the engineering and operations teams to implement procurement strategies and policies, applying a structured approach. In addition, this position will support tactical execution from the selected supply chain and help maintain performance and profitability.
Responsibilities

You will achieve your objectives by demonstrating a clear understanding of the business structure, good communications skills, a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to multitask and coordinate with various functions.

Commodity Strategies: Develop commodity strategies with a strong focus on mechanical and electrical components including analyzing and developing sourcing strategies; spend analysis and supplier strategies.

Supplier Relationship Management: Includes negotiating pricing, monitoring performance to agreed terms and conditions, and supplier selection. Collaborate with key suppliers to expand knowledge and identify opportunities for improvements resulting in a joint benefit to the company and supplier. Leverage supplier expertise and/or technology to harness improvements in reducing total costs. Collaborate with procurement engineering and design engineering to find the best supplier to meet the cost, quality and design requirements.

Contractual Agreements: Develop and negotiate contractual agreements to provide price protection and supply security in consultation with legal, business, and technical functions. Execute requirements per terms of the agreements.

Supplier Performance Management: Working with supplier quality, engage suppliers to provide long-term solutions to quality issues. Coordinate cross functional and business discussions to drive continuous improvement opportunities throughout the organization. Monitor quality and delivery performance of key suppliers.

Risk Management: Develop supplier relationships resulting in optimized supply chain efficiencies and security of supply. Evaluate supplier's capabilities and capacities while implementing plans to ensure adequate supply of goods and services. Negotiate agreements with suppliers that mitigate or spread the overall risk.
Requirements

BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of mechanical and electrical components

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to interact with inter and intra departmental personnel, as well as management.

Strong computer skills

Successful experience in negotiating with senior level managers.

Demonstrated understanding of entire supply chain and cost drivers.

Demonstrated data and financial analysis capability.

Cross functional/organizational project management and facilitation skills (internal and external).
