This position will report to the Raw Materials Commodity Manager of Metals & Third-Party Wire & Cable and will be based in Highland Heights, KY. This position will be responsible for outsourced components for manufacturing and distribution for the Elevator business unit, Draka EHC, a brand of Prysmian. This role requires the ability to lead and work with cross functional teams, regional monthly management reporting, manage vendor and supply relationships including negotiation, and the ability to plan strategically long-term. This is an important position within the regional organization.
Interpersonal Responsibilities
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with current suppliers to ensure consistent supply of material.
  • Identifies upcoming needs, changes within the supplier, and key contacts to develop cost savings and security of supply opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively across the organization and serves as a conduit to supplier to ensure company’s commercial, operational, and financial needs are met.
  • Shares information and best practices with peers and assists with developing supplier solutions to meet company Management Plan objectives and improving internal systems workflows.
Operational Responsibilities
  • Develop commodity strategy to deliver long-term consistency, security, and competitively priced supply.
  • Search for new supplier options in commodities where competitive pricing, security of supply, or multiple source arrangements are needed. Make introductory calls and utilize consultative engagement skills to qualify potential suppliers and assess capabilities. Develop relationships with key contacts and gain access to next level buying influences.
  • Facilitate interactions and coordinate the flow of information between supplier and company representatives from procurement, supply chain, operations, R&D, and commercial teams, when necessary.
  • Negotiate pricing and supply agreements, terms and conditions, and other assorted purchasing requirements with suppliers. Collaborate with procurement management, legal, supply chain, and other stakeholders to execute supply agreements. Maintain and share with cross-functional teams operational T&C’s for key supplier agreements.
  • Lead and coordinate resolution for material shortages as required by the business.
  • Communicate competitive market information, pricing announcements, and supply outlook to the business.
  • Resolve Accounts Payable issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate with R&D department and suppliers to identify raw material alternatives that deliver enhanced security of supply, cost savings, simplification, or other commercial and/or operational benefit.
  • Maintain back office systems including updating pricing and raw material costs, extending raw material part numbers, and updating supplier details including consignment agreements.
  • Setup and create new vendors throughout back office systems. Ensure vendor information is up-to-date at all times. Collaborate with plant representatives in these efforts, as required.
  • Complete monthly reporting requirements for local and corporate entities. Maintain regular communication with commercial teams including the sharing of supplier price and service letters along with any upcoming supply issues, outages, and potential business disruptions.
  • Create standard POs as needed to support the business.
Organizational Responsibilities
Keep abreast of market and supplier trends along with competitive activities. Provide feedback on suppliers, strategies, untapped opportunities, threats and what is working and not working in the marketplace to key business stakeholders in procurement, R&D, and commercial teams.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Business, Finance Supply Chain Management is preferred, Bachelor degree is strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience in Procurement, supply chain, or a related field preferred, recent college graduate with business or manufacturing experience would be considered
  • Strong commodity management/leadership skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of time
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution industry is preferred
  • Elevator industry or Electrical contracting supply chain or sales experience is a plus
  • Energetic, motivated and possess strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
  • Excellent problem solving and category management skills
  • Professional certification (such as C.P.M., CPSM, CPIM) a plus
