e Communications Coordinator is responsible for content creation, storytelling, digital communications, and brand consistency across CHPA platforms. This role supports fundraising campaigns, donor communications, events, social media, website updates, and public-facing materials.
The Coordinator will work cross-functionally to gather stories, impact data, and program updates to ensure communications are compelling, ethical, and aligned with CHPA’s mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Write and edit donor communications, newsletters, appeals, impact reports, blog posts, and event materials.
- Gather youth stories and program updates in collaboration with Program teams, ensuring ethical storytelling standards are upheld.
- Maintain and organize a digital content library (photos, stories, videos, testimonials).
- Support grant storytelling needs in partnership with the Institutional Grants Manager.
Digital & Social Media
- Manage CHPA’s social media platforms, including content planning, scheduling, and engagement.
- Develop and maintain a communications calendar aligned with fundraising and program priorities.
- Track engagement metrics and provide regular reporting on digital performance.
- Update website content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and SEO optimization.
Fundraising & Event Support
- Create marketing collateral for Sleep Out, events, and other fundraising campaigns.
- Draft email campaigns and digital fundraising content in collaboration with Development team.
- Ensure sponsors and donors receive appropriate recognition across platforms.
- Assist with event-day communications and on-site storytelling as needed.
Brand & Internal Collaboration
- Maintain brand consistency across all materials.
- Support internal communications that strengthen staff alignment and mission clarity.
- Coordinate with vendors (designers, printers, photographers) as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
You are an excellent fit for this role if you:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Have two to three (2–3) years of experience in communications, marketing, or nonprofit development.
- Are a strong writer with the ability to craft compelling, mission-driven narratives.
- Are highly organized and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Are proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; experience with Canva, Adobe, or similar tools preferred.
- Have experience managing social media platforms and email marketing tools (Mailchimp or similar).
- Are passionate about ethical storytelling and amplifying youth voice with dignity and respect.
- Are comfortable attending occasional evening or weekend events for content capture.
You’ll REALLY stand out for this role if you:
- Have experience supporting peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns.
- Have worked in a human services or homelessness-focused nonprofit.
- Are familiar with SEO best practices and digital analytics tools.
- Have photography, basic video editing, or graphic design skills.
- Speak Spanish (preferred but not required).
