Communications and Marketing Coordinator

The mission of The Child Advocacy Center of Northeast Missouri is to deliver excellence in child abuse response, offer a path towards healing, and educate the community. We provide expert forensic interviews, child and family advocacy, and therapy services for children and families when they need it most. We also present school and community- based prevention programs to educate children about appropriate boundaries and empower victims to disclose abuse to safe adults. Position Description:

This is a full-time position working with a non-profit agency that serves children disclosing of physical and sexual abuse in 14 counties of northeast Missouri. Under the direction of the Development Director, with latitude for independent decisions. This position calls for organization, time management, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work well with outside agencies and all levels of staff. This position will be responsible for participating in the development and implementation of the marketing and communications activities to attract new donors and retain existing donors. The position is results driven with the necessity of meeting marketing, communication, and development goals, as well as willingness to participate in efforts to build strong relationships within the community.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for agency graphic design work, social media content, website maintenance, media relations and coordination of community awareness opportunities agency-wide.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Produce content for press releases, annual reports, social media, and other communication designed to target specific constituents.
  • Create publicity campaigns consisting of designing invitations, flyers, presentations, direct mail campaigns, signage and similar printed deliverables for events and fundraisers throughout the year.
  • Graphic design support for all functions of the organization.
  • Responsible for publication of newsletter to be available via electronic publication, and print publication as necessary.
  • Take a leadership role for maintaining website content and contributing to site development by creating new and updated content for existing web pages ensuring consistency with the look and feel of The Child Advocacy Center branding.
  • Enhance the public image of, and garner public support for, The Child Advocacy Center through promotions, publicity, on-line communications, and community-awareness opportunities agency-wide.
  • Serve as a backup for donor database management as needed.
  • Assist with tax credit documentation.
  • Assist with special events and campaigns.
  • Connect with donors and sponsors as needed to help achieve development fundraising goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer workstation
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, graphic design software navigation, and other repetitive fine motor tasks
  • Ability to view and distinguish colors, images, and details on a computer screen
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds (boxes of materials, event supplies).
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, particularly during events.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching while setting up and tearing down event spaces.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, sometimes in varying weather conditions.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Marketing, Nonprofit, Communications or Business
  • 2. 3-5 years of experience working in Fundraising, Marketing and/or Communications a plus
  • Proficient experience using Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Outlook, Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher). Experience and mastery of use of Adobe Design Suite (InDesign) is critical.
