Work Location: Concord, CA (Fully onsite, no remote)
Employment Details: Exempt, Monday - Friday during business hours, this role will need to drive a minimum of every other week to various worksite and events for the purposes of developing content
Compensation: $76,000-81,750/ year

What you’ll do:
Communications and Marketing

Develop and execute the communications and marketing strategy and plan that retains and expands SHELTER, Inc.’s reputation and thought leadership/subject matter expertise across constituencies including the media and key influencers, assessing and fine-tuning for continuous improvement.

Create and manage the annual communications calendar and budget.

Collaborate regularly with program teams across SHELTER, Inc. and the Director of Development to develop compelling content for external publications, appeals, social media, the web and other channels, particularly participant success stories.

Responsible for sourcing, writing, producing, and distributing content for online and/or offline marketing needs. Uses written, multimedia and video storytelling to create innovative and engaging content in support of the agency's marketing goals.

Execute SHELTER, Inc. print and electronic collateral including appeals, newsletters, annual impact report, marketing collateral, event materials, and electronic communications managing the brand image across agency.

Actively engage, cultivate and manage media relationships to ensure prominent coverage surrounding SHELTER, Inc.’s programs, special events, press release announcements and other projects.

Serve as the lead point person on media interactions that help promote and/or impact the agency.

Create new content and manage agency website, executing SEO and SEM optimization strategies.
Administration

Manage vendors for outsourced services such as printers, website management, contracted professional services, and planned giving web content.
Additional Team Responsibilities
-
As a fully integrated member of the Development Team, this position will be cross trained in other duties and software tools to provide backup and engagement support with donors and volunteers, drives, events, and data management.

Conversely, this position provides reasonable training or instruction to team members that enable them to provide reciprocal backup and engagement in primary responsibilities.
What you’ll bring:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field

3+ years of experience in communication functions, non-profit or media sector highly desired

Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite, Constant Contact, web & advertising analytics.

Knowledge of basic graphic design, photography, video skills

Strong writing, editing proofreading, confident communicator and presenter.

Understanding of best practices/ability to create and post content on digital/social media

Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including program participants and staff, board members, volunteers, donors and other supporters.

Flexibility to work weekends as needed
Position Requirements:

Access to reliable personal transportation required, including a DMV record that permits driver to be insured under SHELTER, Inc.’s automobile coverage.

Must successfully pass a criminal background check
