Role Overview:
The Indiana State Personnel Department (INSPD) is seeking a Communications Consultant to join our Communications Division in Downtown Indianapolis. The role of the Communications Specialist is to support the Communications Director in developing and delivering a proactive, engaging, and employee-focused communications strategy for Indiana’s third-largest employer.
Specifically, the INSPD Communications Specialist will function as a writer and editor on all INSPD content for the web, social media, video, email, and print communications. In addition, this position also has a primary role in managing the Statehouse Market and the state’s social media accounts.
The essential functions of this roles are as follows:
Manage content and publication for both internal and external INSPD publications.
Write content in AP style for both internal and external INSPD publications, websites, emails, social media, and for the leadership team as assigned.
Serve as primary editor and proofreader on all INSPD publications and newsletters using AP style.
Create, write, and manage posts for state social media channels while maintaining brand identity and consistency across all platforms. Collaborate with the team to create social media editorial calendar that complements Communication’s master calendar.
Assist in event planning and execution of various internal and statewide employee engagement events.
Plan, write, edit, and send communications before, during, and after statewide events; communicate activities taking place at other SOI sites or shared by other partners.
Support employee engagement committee and manager as needed to execute communications, employee engagement, and other INSPD-focused programming.
Perform various miscellaneous tasks related to internal and statewide employee engagement events.

Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
