The Communications Coordinator for the Silverfield College of Education and Human Services (SCOEHS) at the University of North Florida (UNF) plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing college-wide communication, creative services management, marketing, social media engagement, and creating public relations strategies.
Job Functions
Communication Strategy and Oversight:
Assist in the development and implementation of strategic communication, marketing materials, and public relations plans to promote SCOEHS faculty, students, events, departments, and programs.
Tailor messaging to multiple audiences, ensuring accessibility and relevance.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to support the college’s mission and strategic initiatives.
Foster relationships across departments to increase communication and support outreach efforts.
Create marketing materials for use in SCOEHS recruitment efforts (i.e., flyers, social media graphics, power-point presentations).
Assist in the development and execution of strategic marketing plans for undergraduate and graduate programs within the college.
Select promotional items and advertising collateral for all college departments and programs (i.e., billboards; retractable banners; promotional decals).
Provide cross-functional project management by executing promotional materials for various college events (i.e., Education Appreciation Night, Alumni Night, Gladys Prior Awards, Gladys Roddenberry Awards).
Build and nurture relationships between the college, community stakeholders, and UNF PR and Marketing Departments.
Content Creation and Engagement:
Assist in the direction of creative services projects and manage multimedia projects (websites, print and digital publications, newsletters, promotional videos, social media content).
Manage various social media channels for effective audience engagement and growth (targeting students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and community partners).
Engage with UNF students, faculty, alumni, and community partners on social media platforms.
Function as a SCOEHS webmaster; handle content update requests for the SCOEHS and UNF Preschool websites.
Serve as one of the liaisons between UNF Marketing, Media Relations, and other web-related stakeholders for web-related matters.
Create compelling content for paid ads to effectively reach target audiences and enhance visibility and engagement.
Interview students, professors, and community partners for multi-platform storytelling.
Create engaging content for various communication channels (i.e., social media, email campaigns, newsletters).
Collaborate with the SCOEHS Director of Development for campaigns and events focused on alumni and donor engagement.
Supervision and Compliance
Collaborate with the SCOEHS Director of Development for campaigns and events focused on alumni and donor engagement.
Ensure timely completion of projects through independent decision-making and deadline management.
Collaborate with the Assistant Director of College Communications, SCOEHS Dean, and Director of Development to ensure project alignment and timely execution.
Ensure compliance with university policies and ADA standards.
Align marketing and communication efforts with the UNF brand.
Ensure alignment with institutional priorities and compliance with university and state policies.
Ensure 100% compliance with SUS policies governing confidentiality of student data.
Support reporting and documentation efforts aligned with SCOEHS and UNF strategic goals.
Maintain accurate records in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Required Qualifications
Master's or Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.Statement(s) of Understanding
This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University's policy, this position may also require a credit check.
