Communications Coordinator

Job Summary: To provide for the broad vision, leadership and initiative needed to plan, organize, implement and evaluate NBAS’ delivery of high-quality two-way communications and associated public relations activities to build mutually beneficial relationships between Berrien RESA and its constituents; seeking to make Berrien RESA indispensable to its constituents.

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in marketing, public relations, communications or other related fields. Master’s Degree preferred.

Successful experience in the field of marketing, public relations or journalism preferred.

Essential duties and Responsibilities:

  • Counsel the Superintendent, Board, and Leadership team regarding communication and public relations issues and planning.
  • Provide communication services for NBAS and its affiliated programs in the areas of public relations, marketing, advertising, publishing, social media and graphic design.
  • Assist in the conception and development of communication activities/strategies in support of the NBAS’ strategic plan goals.
  • Write and edit documents, talking points, press releases, brochures and publications.
  • Coordinate/produce alternative communication for the district (podcasts, radio commercials, videos, etc.)
  • Provide training in customer service, public relations, and communication.
  • Provide counsel to the Superintendent, Board of Education and staff on the appropriate media messages and venues most likely to ensure successful programs and campaigns.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with area media outlets.
  • Work to develop, maintain and protect the integrity of the NBAS’ brand.
  • Provide communication and graphic design support to local districts.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and develop/manage the budget of the Graphic Designer/Social Media operations.
  • Oversee the NBAS website and social media technologies to ensure functionality and that the content matches the brand and the mission of NBAS.
  • Work to coordinate and support a common outreach plan to establish/strengthen relationships with community partners.
  • Work with outside vendors to produce communication and marketing materials.
  • Actively participate in regional and/or state-wide projects to strengthen NBAS’ brand in the education community.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

  • As the primary architect of the district’s public image, you will lead the conception and execution of comprehensive marketing, social media, and advertising strategies for NBAS and its affiliated programs. Your day-to-day responsibilities will range from high-level tasks—such as drafting press releases and advising leadership on communication planning—to hands-on production of podcasts, videos, and graphics. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the NBAS brand, managing vendor relationships, and providing essential communication training to staff. By overseeing the district website and coordinating community outreach, you will ensure a consistent, professional, and engaging voice that connects our schools with the broader public.
  • As the Radio Station Manager: The Radio Station Manager oversee the operation of the WNBI radio station, including scheduling, programming, software updates, troubleshooting station issues and ensuring compliance with all FCC regulations and policies.
  • As Technology Assistance: The Technology Lead oversees the strategic implementation and daily administration of all software platforms dedicated to District communication. This role serves as the primary architect of the District’s digital outreach, ensuring all systems—from parent notification portals to internal collaboration tools—are integrated, secure, and user-friendly. During the summer months, the Lead transitions into a collaborative technical role, providing hands-on support to the Technology Department to facilitate infrastructure upgrades, hardware deployment, and system maintenance in preparation for the upcoming academic year.

Terms of Employment:

This is a twelve-month position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Superintendent.
