Communications & Digital Media Specialist

Purpose of Position:

Child Care Aware of Kansas (CCAKS) is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Communications & Digital Media Specialist to manage day-to-day communications activities, digital content, and publication processes. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, has a knowledge of child care, and brings fresh ideas to the team.

The Specialist will work under the leadership of the Strategic Communications Manager to ensure consistent, engaging, and on-brand communications across all channels, including social media, the website, and Kansas Child Magazine/blog. We are a small but mighty team helping to connect Kansas families and child care providers to support and resources!

Key Responsibilities

Digital & Social Media

  • Create, schedule, and monitor social media content using Loomly, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging and funder required outcomes.
  • Track engagement metrics, prepare reports, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to collect stories, photos, and content for campaigns.

Publication Management

  • Manage production of Kansas Child Magazine/blog, coordinating with internal committees, writers, graphic designers, and external contractors.
  • Ensure deadlines, quality standards, and brand consistency are met for all publications.
  • Coordinate editorial calendar and ensure smooth workflow from content creation to publication.

Graphic & Digital Design

  • Produce branded graphics, infographics, and visual assets for both digital and print materials.
  • Ensure all communications adhere to organizational style, tone, and visual standards.

Content & Communications Support

  • Draft, proofread, and edit newsletters, emails, flyers, and campaign materials.
  • Support website updates and content management to ensure clarity, accessibility, and brand alignment.
  • Assist with event promotion, training announcements, and other organizational communications.

Collaboration & Innovation

  • Contribute creative ideas and solutions to improve messaging, digital presence, and audience engagement.
  • Maintain organized project files, templates, and assets for team use.
  • Support Strategic Communications Senior Manager in achieving department goals.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in communications, marketing, digital media, or related field.
  • Experience with social media and social media management platforms (e.g., Loomly, Facebook, X, BlueSky, LinkedIn) and analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to create digital and print media that is visually engaging and on brand.
  • Experience with web design (WordPress) and analytics tools (Google Analytics).
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent.
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Collaborative, flexible, and proactive in problem-solving.

Pay: $46,500.00 per year
