SUMMARY:
The Communications Coordinator supports creative design development for the entire agency and aids communications efforts for Sunshine Communities retail enterprisesGeorgettes Grounds & Gifts and Sunshine Studios.
This role ensures all creative materials are aligned with brand standards, advance Sunshines mission, and help strengthen awareness, engagement, and revenue growth across programs and retail locations. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail-oriented designer with strong visual storytelling, layout, and digital communications skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Graphic Design (Primary Function 70%)

Serve as main designer for the agency, producing high-quality visual assets across print and digital platforms

Design branded marketing collateral: brochures, flyers, posters, signage, banners, web graphics, email graphics, and event materials

Create compelling content for retail product packaging, point-of-sale, signage, menus, and seasonal campaigns

Maintain and evolve brand guidelines across all Sunshine entities, including Georgettes and Sunshine Studios

Manage creative file organization and brand asset libraries

Generate original art, icons, templates, and layouts that support accessible communication
Communications & Social Media (30%)

Execute social media strategy and content for retail brands as directed by the Marketing Director, including graphics, short-form videos, product spotlights, and community feature

Support email marketing graphics and storytelling for retail communications

Assist with photography and videography needs when appropriate
QUALIFICATION:
Technical Skills
Expert-level proficiency in:

Basic understanding of email platforms (Constant Contact or similar)

Comfortable supporting SEO-aligned visual content (image naming, alt-text, formatting for accessibility)

Bachelors Degree: in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Media, or related field required

1-3 years of Professional graphic design experience with nonprofit or retail experience preferred

Experience designing for social media, print production, and brand marketing required
- Experience with brand marketing and portfolio demonstrating strong design execution and creative versatility required

Experience with administrative tasks preferred

Effective written & verbal communication skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Office-based with frequent community travel to events, partner sites, and outreach opportunities.

About Sunshine:
Sunshine Communities, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Northwest Ohio supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through residential, vocational, clinical, therapeutic, and recreational services. These services are offered in various circumstances including at our Maumee, Ohio campus and at homes within the community. In addition to programs on campus, Sunshine individuals and staff operate Georgettes Grounds and Gifts, a coffee shop and fair-trade gift store located in downtown Maumee. Right across the road lies Sunshine Studios, an art studio space and gift store offering classes to individuals and the community.
