Director of Communications
Kelso Industries | Draper, UT (Home Office)
We are seeking a Director of Communications to lead Kelso's enterprise communications strategy, organizational change communications, and corporate brand initiatives. This highly visible leadership role will serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership while ensuring employees, operating companies, and external stakeholders receive clear, consistent, and compelling messaging that supports Kelso's growth strategy.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator, storyteller, and change leader who can influence change at all levels of the organization while strengthening Kelso's corporate brand and helping guide the organization through continued growth and transformation.
What You'll Do
Internal Communications & Executive Messaging
- Develop and execute Kelso's enterprise-wide communications strategy.
- Serve as the primary communications advisor to executive leadership.
- Create executive messaging, speeches, presentations, leadership updates, and town hall communications.
- Lead internal communications across Kelso and its operating companies to drive alignment, engagement, and culture.
- Develop communication plans that support strategic priorities and business objectives.
- Establish communication standards, governance, and best practices across the platform.
- Create communication toolkits and resources for leaders and operating company teams.
- Manage sensitive, confidential, and time-critical communications as needed.
Change Management
- Lead communication and change management strategies supporting acquisitions, integrations, organizational transformations, and enterprise initiatives.
- Partner with executive leadership, HR, and business leaders to assess organizational impacts, stakeholder needs, and communication requirements.
- Develop change readiness, adoption, and reinforcement plans that drive understanding, engagement, and successful implementation of key initiatives.
- Support enterprise programs including technology implementations, process standardization efforts, organizational redesigns, and culture initiatives.
- Create leader toolkits, communication resources, and training materials to help managers effectively lead through change.
- Monitor employee sentiment, communication effectiveness, and adoption metrics to improve outcomes and reduce change fatigue.
- Serve as a trusted advisor during periods of rapid growth, integration, and organizational evolution.
Corporate Brand Marketing
- Lead Kelso's corporate brand strategy and ensure brand consistency across all touchpoints.
- Oversee corporate marketing initiatives that strengthen Kelso's reputation and market presence.
- Manage corporate website content, social media strategy, and external brand messaging.
- Develop and maintain corporate narratives, company positioning, and key messaging frameworks.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and HR teams to support employer branding and recruitment marketing initiatives.
- Coordinate public relations opportunities, media engagement, and corporate announcements.
- Ensure consistency across corporate communications, marketing, recruiting, and leadership messaging.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, executive communications, internal communications, change management, or related disciplines.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing enterprise-wide communications programs, teams, or strategic initiatives.
- Public company communications (SEC disclosure requirements, public company press releases, investor communications, etc.) experience preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading communications and change initiatives within a high-growth, multi-location, or private-equity-backed organization.
- Exceptional executive writing, storytelling, and presentation development skills.
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, organizational transformations, or large-scale change initiatives.
- Experience developing and executing internal communications strategies across geographically dispersed workforces.
- Strong understanding of change management principles, stakeholder engagement, and employee adoption strategies.
- Experience managing corporate branding, external communications, public relations, and digital communication channels.
- Ability to influence senior leaders and build credibility across all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.
