Communications Manager

When you join Honeywell, you become part of a global team of thinkers, innovators, dreamers, and doers — people who build the technologies that make the world smarter, safer, and more sustainable.

We are seeking a Communications Manager to join our External Corporate Communications team, reporting to the Senior Director of External Communications. This is a role for someone who thinks strategically before acting, who can see around corners, and who builds communications programs — not just executes tasks. You love the craft of storytelling, thrive on building relationships with journalists and analysts, and know how to position senior leaders to show up with confidence and credibility.

If you get genuinely excited about a well-placed story, if you see the narrative threads others miss, and if you bring both a reporter’s curiosity and a strategist’s discipline to your work, we want to talk to you.

THE ROLE

As Communications Manager, you will serve as a strategic communications partner and practitioner on the External Communications team — one-part trusted advisor, one-part expert do-er who gets things across the finish line. Your work will influence how Honeywell tells its story to the world: through the media, through industry analysts, and through the voices of its most senior leaders.

You will think in frameworks and plans, not just individual stories. You will connect dots across the business, anticipate what the market and media care about, build proactive programs that keep Honeywell’s narrative ahead of the news cycle, and support leadership in preparing for the interview, the industry keynote, and the moments that matter.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and drive proactive communications strategies that generate meaningful coverage, shape Honeywell’s narrative, and advance the company’s reputation with key external audiences.
  • Identify, shape, and pitch story angles that connect Honeywell’s work to broader industry trends and moments — finding the human and strategic interest in complex, technical subjects.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with journalists, editors, and industry analysts who cover Honeywell’s businesses and sectors.
  • Help to define and develop external positioning for Honeywell’s leadership — preparing for media interviews, speaking engagements, industry panels, and other high-visibility opportunities.
  • Write and edit a broad range of communications materials: press releases, executive talking points, media Q&As, bylines, briefing documents, and more.
  • Collaborate with business leaders, subject matter experts, and internal communications teams to develop consistent messaging and aligned external narratives.
  • Partner with analyst relations contacts to support industry analyst engagement and ensure Honeywell’s story is well represented across research and advisory communities.
  • Contribute to communications planning and strategy, helping the team stay organized, prioritized, and ahead of the news cycle.
  • Support team operations including maintaining editorial calendars, managing media databases, and improving shared processes and resources.
  • Assist with issues when needed, drawing on strong judgment and experience to protect the company’s reputation under pressure.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Minimum 6 or more years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or journalism.
  • Demonstrated history of earning coverage in top-tier media outlets and building lasting relationships with reporters.
  • Proven experience preparing and positioning senior executives for media interviews, speaking engagements, and industry forums — you know how to build their confidence and sharpen their message.
  • Strong strategic planning skills — you build programs and frameworks, anticipate what’s coming, and help your team stay ahead of the story.
  • Strong, versatile writing skills — you write clearly, quickly, and with range. You enjoy it.
  • Genuine curiosity about business, technology, and the world — you read widely, ask good questions, and connect ideas.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Experience in analyst relations or familiarity with the analyst community (a plus).
  • Exposure to crisis, issues management, or financial communications — you’ve worked under pressure and can navigate sensitive situations with poise.
  • A talent for organization — you build systems that help teams run better, and you find satisfaction in a well-structured process.
  • Comfort collaborating with executives and across all levels of a large, complex organization.
  • Experience in an industrial, technology, or B2B communications environment.
  • AP Style proficiency and high editorial standards.
  • A collaborative, low-ego approach — you share credit, ask for input, and bring out the best in those around you.
