Communications Manager

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Communications Manager will own the ongoing development and execution of various communication strategies and events for the Rolling Hills Clinic; oversees the comprehensive communications program for both internal and external audiences, which includes elements of community relations, media relations, website development and maintenance, publications, school/business partnerships and community education. The communication channels we employ include: marketing automation, web, social media, video, collateral (catalogs, brochures, datasheets, articles, white papers, and case studies), print and digital media, trade shows and events. This role is instrumental in developing, implementing, and maximizing RHC’s social strategy, producing creative content, and building online communities.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the Rolling Hills Clinic’s strategic plan and mission, vision, values.
  • Design, develop, and execute initiatives and solutions aligned with the clinic’s belonging and engagement objectives and strategy.
  • Manage website strategy, development, and optimization.
  • Manage marketing and communications initiatives overseeing marketing, website, social media, internal and external communications, and brand management; ensuring consistency and coherence across all communication channels.
  • Develop key messaging frameworks for leadership, providers, and department heads.
  • Serve as steward of the Clinic’s brand identity and enforce branding guidelines across all materials and platforms.
  • Ensure consistent visual, written, and digital representation across multiple clinic sites.
  • Lead social media strategy with measurable engagement and reach goals. Monitoring public sentiment; implement reputation management strategies.
  • Creates content for amplification through traditional media, social media, video, and other channels.
  • Ensure content is engaging, accurate, and adheres to brand guidelines; while reflecting cultural respect and organizational credibility.
  • Monitor digital analytics and adjust outreach strategies to improve patient engagement and community access to care.
  • Oversee content management systems and vendor relationships.
  • Craft executive messaging, staff announcements, policy update communication, and organizational communications.
  • Support leadership in change management communication initiatives.
  • Develop structured internal communication systems across all sites and strengthen organizational culture through transparent and consistent messaging.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies related to medical messaging and healthcare content.
  • Conducts patient touchpoint assessments and recommends improvements to enhance the patient experience in lobbies, kiosks, signage, and key patient engagement areas.
  • Develops and provides communication standards and training for PSC greetings, scripting, voicemails, and RHC phone and after-hours messaging.
  • Supports integration of Tribal culture into clinical spaces and communications through collaboration on culturally meaningful design and messaging elements.
  • Produce and oversee high-level written content including: Annual reports, strategic communication plans, public health campaigns, etc.
  • Establish editorial review processes and approve all content for factual accuracy, grammar precision, regulatory compliance, and cultural integrity.
  • Supports the creation of crisis communication plans and tools for emergency preparedness management.
  • Lead proactive and reactive messaging during public health events, regulatory updates, or organizational changes.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA, and other regulatory privacy laws and protocols.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to inform content decisions and optimize engagement.
  • Maintain detailed annual budgets reconciliation and tracking reports for marketing and communications spends.
  • Manage the oversight of RHC Events and Supervise the Event Coordinator for Rolling Hills Clinic and ensure alignment of events with strategic objectives.
  • Oversees communications planning for health fairs, outreach events, and public health campaigns.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Communications, or related field, including 2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting, Tribal government, or highly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic communications planning and media relations.
  • Experience supervising staff and/or managing contracted vendors.
  • Advanced writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive or crisis communications situations.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
  • Experience working with Tribal populations and knowledge of health disparities.
  • Bilingual

Licenses/Certificates

  • Valid CPR Certification
  • Valid California Driver’s License

Working Environment & Physical Demands

Working Environment: Work is performed in a health clinic setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Will work with blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, and fax machines. Background Check Requirements:

Pre-employment Drug Testing and a Department of Justice Fingerprinting clearance through Federal, State and Child Abuse Index is a contingency for an offer of employment. Criminal clearances are obtained to protect the welfare and safety of clients receiving services at Rolling Hills Clinic.

Vaccination Requirements:

Provide vaccination records to show proof of immunity for TB, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, TDAP & Hep B. If the records are more than 10 years old, titers are required to confirm immunity.
