Communications Summer Intern

The summer intern in AFT Communications will support the production team with the creation and preparation of visual assets for digital and print communications and assist with designing graphics for social media, publications, reports, and other communications materials.

The AFT Communications intern will support the AFT’s national communication strategy by creating, curating and analyzing content that engages and mobilizes educators, healthcare professionals and public service workers. Working directly with the Communications Director, the intern will help tell powerful stories, amplify campaigns, and elevate the union’s voice across digital platforms.

• Format and resize existing graphics to meet platform and brand specifications.

• Help maintain visual consistency by following established branding and style guidelines.

• Organize and maintain graphic files, templates, and shared design assets.

• Assist with basic photo editing, layout adjustments, and simple illustrations as needed.

Collaborate with communications, media affairs, and social media teams to produce timely visual content.
