Here in Huntington Beach, we believe passionately that the key to becoming the best beach City in the world starts and ends with finding the right people to join our team. At this time, we have an outstanding career opportunity available, as we're looking for the right person to serve as Community and Library Services Coordinator.
The current assignment at Murdy Community Center supports daily operations, including planning and overseeing youth day camps and year-round teen programs. The Coordinator works closely with the Supervisor to ensure effective delivery of key functions such as customer service, contract class coordination, facility and field rentals, and part-time staff oversight. The role includes event planning, collaborating with community groups, securing sponsorships as needed, and managing related program logistics. Additional responsibilities include recruiting, training, and supervising part-time employees; providing program information to the public; using recreation software daily; maintaining accurate records; and contributing to the overall success of community center operations.
The Position
Under general supervision, performs a variety of administrative duties related to Community Services operations, including assisting in the development, implementation and administration of a broad range of community services programs; assists in the maintenance of assigned work site; provides oversight for a variety of recreation and sports facilities; oversees the work of part-time/seasonal/recurrent staff. This is a journey-level classification responsible for oversight, development, implementation and administration of a variety of community services activities and events. Any combination of education, training, and experience that would likely provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform in the position is qualifying. A typical combination includes:
