Community Living Support (CLS) Staff Trainer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated CLS Staff Trainer to join our team. This position plays a vital role in preparing new Community Living Support Specialists to provide quality care and services to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health needs, and physical disabilities.

The CLS Staff Trainer will design, coordinate, and deliver training programs that equip new and current staff with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to be successful in their roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver orientation and training sessions for new CLS Specialists.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in client care, life skills support, documentation, safety, and crisis management.
  • Train staff on person-centered planning, client rights, and professional boundaries.
  • Ensure staff understand agency policies, EVV documentation, and compliance standards.
  • Observe trainees in the field, provide feedback, and coach for improvement.
  • Stay updated on best practices, state requirements, and industry standards to integrate into training.
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with all required certifications.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and leadership to identify training needs and enhance staff performance.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Community Living Support Specialist, Direct Care Worker, or in a related caregiving role (required).
  • Previous training, coaching, or leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of CLS responsibilities, documentation requirements, and client care practices.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt training to different learning styles.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field (preferred).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week
