Community Partnerships Intern

Position Summary

Philabundance provides food to thousands of people each week through a network of over 350 Agency Partners – food pantries, cupboards, and emergency kitchens – over a nine-county service area in southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Our mission is to drive hunger from our communities today and to end hunger for good, and we believe policy and advocacy are powerful tools in the fight against hunger.

The Philabundance Community Partnerships team manages the relationships with our network of over 300 agency partners, such as food pantries, houses of worship, schools, and long-term care facilities. The Partnerships oversees distribution programs and collaborates cross-sector with other organizations providing housing, healthcare services, financial literacy, and job training to help our neighbors in need achieve food security.

The Community Partnerships Intern will support the Community Partnerships team with research, data analysis, and agency engagement related to pantry services. This internship offers hands-on experience working with community-based organizations, analyzing service data, and improving systems that support food access across the region.

Primary Responsibilities:

Service Insights – Pantry Intake Program

  • Promote and support food pantry engagement with Philabundance’s intake software system
  • Serve as a point of contact for pantry partners, responding to software-related inquiries
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues experienced by pantry staff
  • Analyze pantry service data and develop reports based on collected information
  • Integrate publicly available data sources into service and performance reports
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the Service Insights user experience
  • Develop supplemental training and resource materials for pantry partners

General Administrative Support

  • Attend Community Partner Council meetings and document discussion highlights
  • Assist with special projects and cross-team initiatives, as needed

Learning Objectives

By the end of the internship, the Community Partnership- Service Insights Intern will be able to:

  • Develop practical experience in nonprofit data analysis and reporting
  • Gain exposure to community-based food access systems and partner engagement
  • Build skills in technical support, training development, and program evaluation
  • Strengthen professional communication and customer service competencies

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills (experience with R statistical computing preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with—or a strong interest in—diverse communities
