Mountain Xpress is looking for an engaged and engaging communicator to report on a wide range of community issues. You must be able to craft balanced news stories that convey important, timely information and empower readers do to more than just consume the news, but also take part in civic dialogue and change at the local level.

Qualified applicants will have 2-3 years experience in news-writing, write efficiently and enjoy a fast-paced news-gathering environment. Must have knowledge of Asheville and WNC, be community-minded, have a keen sense of fairness with respect for differing points of view and be committed to Xpress’ mission of community-based journalism.

This is a fully in-person position in the heart of downtown Asheville. We offer a collegial, close-knit atmosphere of individuals dedicated to the preservation of Asheville’s grassroots-oriented culture.
