Summary: This position will have a deep understanding of compensation principles, practices, and regulations, as well as hands-on experience in administering payroll processes accurately and efficiently. This role requires a meticulous approach to data analysis, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of accuracy in compensation and payroll administration.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Calculate and process salaries, bonuses, commissions, benefits, and other compensation components.
- Validate time and attendance records, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate records.
- Stay updated on relevant tax regulations, labor laws, and industry trends to ensure payroll compliance.
Compensation Analysis & Design
- Collaborate with HR and management teams to develop, implement, and maintain compensation structures that align with company goals and industry benchmarks.
- Conduct thorough job evaluations and market research to recommend competitive salary ranges for various positions.
- Provide expertise in creating and modifying job descriptions to accurately reflect roles and responsibilities.
Compensation Planning
- Work closely with HR and finance teams to develop annual compensation budgets and forecasts.
- Support the design and administration of incentive and bonus programs to drive employee performance and engagement.
- Assist in merit increase planning.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Compile and analyze compensation and payroll data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reports to provide insights to HR and leadership teams for decision-making.
HRIS Administration
- Serve as expert in maintaining and updating all HRIS information related to compensation and payroll, ensuring data accuracy and integrity in HRIS and payroll systems.
- Develop and maintain functional expertise within all modules of the current HRIS and develop and/or publish training documents to the HR team and other supervisory personnel, as needed.
- Facilitate the skill development for HR personnel in appropriate modules of the HRIS, as appropriate for their specific role.
Employee Communication
- Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to compensation, payroll, and occasionally benefits.
- Prepare and distribute clear and informative communications regarding compensation changes, payroll schedules, and relevant updates.
Required Skills & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3+ years of proven experience in compensation analysis and payroll administration.
- Strong knowledge of compensation principles, market trends, and relevant labor laws.
- Proficiency in using HRIS and payroll systems.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Knowledge of federal & state regulations pertaining to compensation and benefits.
- Self-starter/high initiative to proactively identify opportunities and take the initiative to find solutions.
- Multitasking: able to adapt to changing priorities and work on multiple projects, meeting deadlines.
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information in a professional manner.
- Strong professional and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as a member of the Human Resources team.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills (able to compose and edit correspondence and communications).
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
- Very detail oriented, with a high level of accuracy and the ability to detect inconsistencies in data.
- Excellent customer skills with the ability to interact with employees at all levels within the organization.
