Job Accountabilities:

Equipment Inspection and Maintenance:
The CPLO is accountable for ensuring that lifting equipment regularly inspection to ensure it is in proper working condition. They must identify any defects or malfunctions and take appropriate actions, such as arranging repairs or replacements. Regular maintenance schedules should be established and followed.

Risk Assessment:
The CPLO is responsible for verifying the thorough risk assessments has been conducting before lifting operations.

Planning and Organization:
The CPLO is accountable for ensuring that lifting operations have been planned and well organized. This includes determining that appropriate lifting equipment, suitable lifting techniques have been selected and safe working procedures are in place. They shall also consider factors such as load capacity, stability, and environmental conditions.

Training and Supervision:
The CPLO is responsible for ensuring that all personnel involved in lifting operations receive appropriate training. They must provide guidance, instruction, and supervision to workers, ensuring they understand safe lifting practices, equipment operation, and risk mitigation strategies.

Compliance with Regulations and Standards:
CPLO must have a thorough understanding of relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices related to lifting operations. They are accountable for ensuring compliance with these requirements to maintain a safe working environment.

Incident Investigation and Reporting:
In the event of an incident or near-miss during lifting operations, the CPLO is responsible for conducting a thorough investigation. They shall identify the root causes, implement corrective actions, and report the incident as required by company policies and regulatory authorities.

Communication and Collaboration:
CPLO shall effectively communicate with all stakeholders involved in lifting operations. This includes coordinating with equipment operators, riggers, supervisors, and other personnel to ensure clear instructions, proper coordination, and effective teamwork.

Continuous Improvement:
The competent person is accountable for continually improving lifting operations by identifying areas for enhancement. They shall stay updated with industry advancements, participate in relevant training programs, and implement best practices to enhance safety, efficiency, and productivity.
Qualifications and Experience:

Technical Engineer and / or Industry related qualifications such as LEEA / EAL / OPITO / CPA.

Minimum 10 Years in Crane, Rigging and Handling at Supervisory / Management level.

Have working profile such as: CPLO for at least 3-year period

Experienced in Oil and Gas Industry.

Worked in onshore, inshore, and offshore operations.

The CPLO must have a deep experience in lifting operations ideally in different fields of application (supervision, calculation, inspection, etc.)

Broad and extensive knowledge in Lifting operations and equipment.

Working to International standards such as: ISO, DNV, BS, API, LOLER, NORSOK etc.

Review of calculations for all types of lifts.

Risk assessment in relation to health, safety & environment.
-
Supervision of critical lifts.
-
Planning of non-critical and critical lifts.
-
Assessment of personnel competence for lifting operations.
-
Experience in training and coaching.

Lifting equipment inspector for: General Lifting Equipment; all types of cranes (onshore & offshore); containers & CCUs; forklift trucks and stackers; winches and powered hoists.
