PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative, maintenance, and repairs of large manufacturing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, changing belts machinery as necessary to ensure machines are in optimal working condition

Identify root cause of unexpected breakdowns of machines; repair quickly and efficiently to decrease downtime for machine

Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts, ordering and installing replacement parts for machines as needed

Prepare reports documenting work performed.

Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies as needed

Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.

Collaborate with department heads regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required

Make necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required

Identify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leader, and implement, lead or participate in solution implementation

Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where mandatory helping to promote a zero-accident culture

Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent

Vocational certificate in appropriate field (i.e. welding, maintenance, electrical, etc.) preferred

Ability to take and pass internal required testing
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
-
Mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment

Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, etc. to diagnose problems with manufacturing equipment
-
Good computer literacy with ability to enter work records in appropriate program
-
Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner; multi-lingual strongly preferred

Ability to handle and resolve most issues in an efficient and effective manner

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, planning skills, and a high attention to detail
-
Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work extended shifts (holiday, weekend and/or extended) as business need requires

Ability to work in cold/ humid or hot/ dusty environments as needed

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, crawling, stooping, kneeling, etc. with ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery

Must be able to visually inspect machines

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
