How you'll make an impact

Acting as analytical and procedural expert (SME) for Data Science team, role incumbent(s) focus on solving highly complex problems with analytical solutions that are highly marketable and/or have a broad impact on the business and quantifying the impact of such solutions. Leads research, development, and implementation of predictive models of the highest complexity to derive actionable insights from large, complex data sources (internal and external). On small to mid-size projects, leads project team to achieve milestones and objectives. Gathers data for analysis, through advanced query writing and collaboration with internal and external data experts. Drives the integration of advanced statistical techniques with reporting tools used across business units. Coordinates with technology partners to build and maintain systems necessary for the deployment of developed models and algorithms. Communicates chosen methodologies, analyses, and interpretation of model predictions to business stakeholders, including clients and other external stakeholders. Combine knowledge of business context and data to recommend solutions to new and complex problems. Leads testing of data quality and completeness for modeling attributes. May also act as analytical or procedural expert and represent team on cross-functional process or project deliverables. May be introduced to formal supervisory responsibility and/or may assist in orienting and training intermediate level employees.
About You

Required: Degree in a quantitative field, such as data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, finance, or economics and minimum 6 years of relevant professional and/or technical experience. Relevant professional experience at a level that directly influences company decision-making. Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex analyses to non-technical business partners. High proficiency working with SQL, data warehouses, and transactional databases. Advanced experience with cloud and distributed data and computing tools. Strong programming skills in one or more high-level languages (Python, R, Julia) commonly used for statistical modeling and machine learning. Demonstrated ability to independently research and develop statistical and machine learning models using modern tools and frameworks. Strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Experience working with large-scale production enterprise IT environments.

Preferred: Advanced degree in a quantitative field, such as data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, finance, or economics. Background in insurance, insurance brokerage, or financial services. Experience working in an agile environment and using agile software (Jira, Asana, Trello, etc.). Experience deploying models in a production environment including writing tests to improve code coverage, using version control (e.g. Git), and levering CI/CD tools (i.e. Jenkins, CircleCI, Travis CI, etc.). Experience mentoring intermediate level staff.
