Compliance Liaison

Miami, United States

The Compliance Liaison will oversee corporate compliance, international trade regulations, and governance requirements for the entities listed above. This position will ensure that all operations meet U.S. federal, state, and international regulatory standards, while acting as the primary link between Tree Logistics leadership and external legal counsel.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in compliance, legal, or governance roles in the maritime, logistics, or trade sectors.
  • Proven knowledge of U.S. maritime law, FMC regulations, OFAC compliance, and U.S.–Caribbean import/export rules.
  • Experience working with multiple jurisdictions and international legal teams.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and contract management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required; French or Creole a plus.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, International Business, Maritime Studies, or related field (J.D. or LL.M. highly preferred).

Responsibilities

Corporate & Regulatory Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs aligned with U.S. federal, state, and international trade laws.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. maritime regulations, FMC licensing requirements, U.S.– Caribbean trade laws, and OFAC sanctions.
  • Manage annual corporate filings, renewals, and business licenses for all covered entities.
  • Coordinate with port authorities, customs agencies, and other government bodies to ensure smooth operations and regulatory adherence.
  • Conduct internal audits to confirm compliance with operational procedures, including cargo handling, safety, and environmental requirements.

Legal Liaison & Governance

  • Serve as primary contact for all matters involving external legal counsel in the U.S., Caribbean, and Latin America.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, charter agreements, agency agreements, NDAs, and service contracts.
  • Maintain accurate corporate records, board resolutions, meeting minutes, and shareholder agreements.
  • Support the creation and implementation of corporate governance policies across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in maritime, customs, environmental, and transportation law that could impact company operations.

Risk Management & Training

  • Identify legal and compliance risks, and recommend strategies to mitigate them.
  • Conduct due diligence on new vendors, agents, and partners in compliance with AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and KYC (Know Your Customer) standards.
  • Lead training sessions for internal teams on compliance topics, including ethics, sanctions awareness, trade regulations, and contract procedures.
  • Support investigations into compliance breaches, preparing reports for senior management and regulatory agencies when necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
