Compliance Officer

The Compliance Officer is responsible for all aspects in relation to company adherence to local legislation, Jones Engineering Group

Requirements and Client requirements in regards to worker's welfare.

The Compliance Officer will liaise directly with Project Management teams on site and Jones Middle East Leadership Team as required to ensure all aspects of worker's welfare for projects and regional offices are in place.

Responsibilities
  • Direct line of report to the compliance officer
  • Review existing contracting practices to ensure Jones Engineering Group (JEG) worker welfare standards are adhered to by existing subcontractors and vendors.
  • Develop, track and maintain a log of active suppliers who are compliant to local regulations and JEG/Client worker welfare standards, ensuring any updates to JEG standards are cascaded through procurement/contracts teams to all vendors and subcontractors as well as project teams.
  • Carry out periodic maintenance audits of existing supply chain to ensure continued adherence to the applicable requirements.
  • Review, update and implement updates to a pre-qualification process for new vendors and subcontractors to complete prior to onboarding in regards to worker welfare compliance to remain compliant with group policy and local legislative updates.
  • Work with the existing and potential supply chain to remedy worker welfare issues and implement processes / procedures with the supply chain to avoid re-occurrence.
  • Advise and assist in the implementation of the prequalification plan with contracts/procurement teams.
  • Develop a country specific supply chain audit process and associated procedures for the Middle East countries in which JEG is active.
  • Advise and assist pre-construction teams in the establishing of client worker welfare requirements and resources associated with maintaining those requirements.
  • Develop and implement procedure(s) for JEG, to ensure JEG compliance to worker welfare standards prior to hiring of new labour and staff. Work with recruitment partners to ensure the recruitment and employment practices are in line with the requirements.
  • Develop and implement procedure(s) for JEG, to ensure any worker entering onto a JEG site is compliant with the worker welfare requirements prior to site induction.
  • Liaise with Client appointed welfare team / 3rd party auditor team to facilitate audits. Work across the project
  • EHS and project admin teams to ensure an on-schedule completion of audits from JEG's perspective.
  • Liaise with Client appointed welfare team / 3rd party auditor team to review audit findings and advise on remediation measures.
  • Implement, manage and track the close out of audit findings providing regular reports to operations teams as identified by the operations director as well as client representatives.
  • Draft and issue communications to the supply chain advising them of audit requirements, documentation to be prepared and actions needed to be taken by them in any remediation efforts.
  • Lead with drafting project specific worker welfare management plans for in flight and new projects.
  • Input to procurement periodically for vendor/subcontractor reviews in relation to supply chain
  • performance on worker welfare management.
  • Ensures that Laws, Regulations and Directives, which impinge on company activities, are complied with and maintained.
  • Provide or organize training courses to meet identified needs on sites.
  • Maintain Worker Welfare stats for all projects and issue to the respective Project Managers and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Advise on and monitor statutory requirements and inspection of worker transport and accommodation/others as required.
  • Attend Meeting with Jones global HR teams for cross collaboration on worker welfare as required.
  • Maintain and manage confidential information required for worker welfare requirements and audits.
  • Ensure safe storage and destruction of confidential information as required by GDPR / local requirements.
  • Attend training as requested.
  • Give training as required.
  • Provide regular input to the continuous improvement log (lessons learned), implementing changes where deficiencies are identified and corrective actions proposed.
Experience And Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in an organisation's compliance role.
  • Experience in a role which requires the handling and safe keeping of large volumes of sensitive data.
  • Experience with Auditing for compliance.
  • Experience in Saudi Arabia in a Welfare/Compliance/Human Rights/Auditing role.
  • Multilingual Fluent Written and Spoken English and Hindi or Urdu or Bengali.
  • MS365 experience.
