Why does the job exist?
Compliance Officers are on the front line of MVD's operations. Employees in this role process, evaluate, and investigate eligibility for conformity with laws and regulations. The transactions range from evaluating applications, records, and documents in order to gather information about eligibility or liability issues.
How does it get done?
This position will be responsible for:- Utilizing MVD's data systems to process driver transactions.
- Reviewing each transaction's supporting documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal law.
- Conducting investigations, preparing reports and may testify in legal proceedings.
- Assisting coworkers in conducting field reviews.
- Providing quality customer service by greeting and serving customers in person and/or fielding inquiries made telephonically, via the Internet or by mail.
- Promoting quality customer service by applying customer sensitivity practices.
- Evaluating process flows to ensure work is completed on-time and efficiently and revises workflows if necessary.
- Reviewing and providing feedback on new policies and procedure.
- Keeping up to date with MVD policies and procedures by accessing any changes in the MVD manual.
- Acting as a liaison to courts, law enforcement, and other government agencies.
This position will be expected to deliver quality work, collaboration with the Motor Vehicle (MVD) management, co-workers and the public in delivering quality transactions with proficiency and a sense of urgency.

Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Must be current with all tax reporting/payment. Employment is subject to post offer pre-employment criminal background check to include fingerprint checks and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Some standing, bending and reaching may be required. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. High pressure/stress situations. Some travel may be required.
