Roles of a Compressor & Water Pump Mechanic
- Installation & Assembly
- Install, align, and assemble compressors, pumps, motors, and related piping systems.
- Ensure correct mounting, coupling, and alignment of rotating equipment.
- Operation & Monitoring
- Monitor performance of compressors and pumps during operation.
- Check pressure, flow rate, temperature, and vibration readings to ensure safe and efficient performance.
- Maintenance & Servicing
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on compressors, pumps, and accessories.
- Replace worn-out parts such as bearings, seals, gaskets, impellers, and valves.
- Conduct lubrication, cleaning, and calibration of equipment.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical faults in pumps and compressors.
- Carry out emergency repairs to restore functionality.
- Balance rotating parts and ensure proper alignment after repair.
- Testing & Commissioning
- Test compressors and pumps after installation or repair to confirm performance.
- Ensure systems are leak-free and operating within manufacturer specifications.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow workplace safety standards while handling pressurized systems and rotating machinery.
- Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules, safety codes, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and parts replacements.
- Report equipment status, failures, and recommendations to supervisors.
- Material & Tool Handling
- Identify required spare parts and materials for maintenance works.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and upkeep of tools and equipment.
