Job Description
The Computer Consultant I position is responsible for performing a variety of professional and administrative duties that facilitate the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Chief Operations Officer business units. The Office of the Chief Operations Officer is comprised of seven profit centers generating total annual revenue of over $160 million. The Computer Consultant I position will be responsible for desktop support for over 300 users in Auxiliary Services (Software and Hardware support), 300+ POS Devices (Receipt printers, registers, cash drawers and associated peripherals), and 100+ Network Printers.

This position will also be responsible for desktop and laptop deployment. Additional duties include maintaining inventory room storage as well as asset tracking for financial and PCI requirements. This position will be required to work evenings and/or weekends for campus events which include Athletic events at the Dome and remote events that require POS support for Division. Participates in special projects implementation as needed. Resolves problems that have significant impact on goals of business units. Strong people skills are required to effectively collaborate with leaders, peers, and other organizational units.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or-related field or 2-4 years equivalent experience.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience supporting various operating systems such as, Windows, MacOS, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Active Directory and In Tune, Network Security Software, and Network Security Appliances.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows OS, MacOS and Office365 with how to use and how to install.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot hardware and software problems, including desktops and printers and proprietary devices. PowerShell, scripting and POS knowledge, a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in day to day troubleshooting through web-based ticketing system and maintain accuracy of inventory system.
  • Review Data Systems procedural documentation when created and update accordingly.
  • Develop process to review such documentation on an annual basis.
  • Assist in administering user accounts and computers within Active Directory.
  • Provide support for Auxiliary Services departmental applications.
  • Setup and installation of desktops and laptops (Windows and Mac).
  • Assist in maintaining and installing all Auxiliary Services POS and networking equipment.
  • Provide support and inform users on using technology.
  • Including limited training and developing work instructions.
  • Support may include events outside normal working hours and may include nights or weekends.
  • Organize inventory and make recommendations when inventory is low.
  • Provide feedback on equipment purchases by staying on top of new trends in the desktop and laptop environments.
  • Interact with others to analyze information/data, provide advice, opinions, and counsel utilizing problem solving skills.
