The Computer Science Teacher will introduce primary school students (Grades 1-5) to foundational concepts in technology and computational thinking. The ideal candidate will foster curiosity and enthusiasm for technology, focusing on creativity, problem-solving, and digital literacy in a fun, age-appropriate manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Introduce students to basic computer components, including the mouse, keyboard, monitor, motherboard, and other hardware.
- Teach essential software skills such as using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Docs, MS Paint, and familiarize students with the Windows operating system.
- Guide students in safely navigating the internet for research, building their digital literacy and awareness.
- Utilize educational platforms like Scratch and Code.org to teach basic programming concepts and computational thinking.
- Plan engaging and interactive lessons that cater to diverse learning needs, encouraging hands-on activities and creative problem-solving.
- Provide individualized feedback to students, ensuring they grasp key concepts and develop confidence in using technology.
- Take on additional responsibilities as required by school leadership.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
Work Experience: 2 to 4 years of previous experience teaching primary school students.
Skills:
- Proficiency in commonly used software (MS Office, Google Docs, MS Paint) and basic hardware knowledge.
- Familiarity with coding tools like Scratch and Code.org is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and engaging way.
- Ability to create lesson plans that inspire young learners and encourage a love for technology.
