Hospitalist (MD/DO or APP)

Redington-Fairview General Hospital (RFGH), a 25-bed critical access hospital and a 2025 "Best Place to Work in Maine" award recipient, is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for a Full-time and a per diem position in our Emergency Department.
This is an excellent opportunity to practice high-quality rural emergency medicine as a vital member of our collaborative team. Our 24/7 Emergency Department serves over 30,000 residents across Somerset County. You will work alongside our supportive team of board-certified emergency physicians and fellow APPs to manage a diverse and engaging mix of cases, making a direct impact on our community.
Our department is equipped with a state-of-the-art central monitoring system and a helipad for rapid LifeFlight transfers, ensuring our team can provide the highest level of care possible in a rural setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages presenting with a wide variety of acute illnesses and injuries.
  • Work in close collaboration with emergency physicians, nursing staff, and specialists.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, develop treatment plans, and perform procedures appropriate for the emergency setting.
  • Stabilize and prepare patients for transfer to tertiary care facilities as needed.
  • Ensure clear communication with patients and families and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation.
  • Shifts are available 24/7/365

Qualifications

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) program.
  • Required: Current national certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (FNP or ACNP).
  • Required: Must possess or be eligible to obtain an active, unrestricted license in the State of Maine.
  • Required: Significant clinical experience as an APP in an emergency department or high-volume urgent care setting.
  • Required: Current certification in ACLS and PALS if not BC/CAQ
  • in EM
  • Preferred: Current ATLS certification.

RFGH is seeking an experienced Hospitalist to join our team. As a member of the Hospitalist team, the Hospitalist provides and manages direct patient care of young adults through the geriatric population in the hospital and assures the adequacy and appropriateness of medical care provided to patients.

Status: Full time, 30-40 hours and 3-4 days per week. 12p-10p
