Job Description: Vision Application Engineer
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Vision Application Engineer to design, develop, and implement industrial machine vision solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in camera, lens, and lighting selection, along with a foundational understanding of PLC programming to integrate vision systems with automation equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vision System Design & Integration
- Select appropriate industrial cameras, lenses, and vision lighting based on application requirements.
- Configure and optimize machine vision systems for inspection, measurement, identification, and guidance.
- Develop and validate vision algorithms to ensure accurate detection and analysis.
- Technical Implementation
- Integrate machine vision systems with PLCs, robotic systems, and automation machinery.
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning of vision setups to achieve desired performance.
- Prepare documentation for system design, configuration, and testing protocols.
- Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and automation teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Provide on-site installation, commissioning, and customer support.
- Train operators and maintenance staff on system usage and routine troubleshooting.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of camera selection (area scan, line scan, 3D cameras, etc.).
- Experience with lens selection (focal length, field of view, depth of field calculations).
- Understanding of vision lighting (backlight, ring light, coaxial, etc.) and its impact on image quality.
- Basic knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, etc.).
- Familiarity with machine vision software (e.g., Cognex, Keyence, Halcon, OpenCV).
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
