Job Summary:

Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit is growing! A well-established and leading law firm specializing in the representation of condominium and homeowner associations is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with 3-10 years of experience for our Lincolnshire, IL office. The attorney advises boards of directors on corporate issues, manages covenant enforcement, and provides contract review. Qualified candidates must be licensed in Illinois and have strong writing and analytical skills. Trial and arbitration experience preferred. Knowledge of and experience with the Illinois Condominium Property Act/Common Interest Community Association Act is a plus.

The starting salary is $105,000, contingent upon level of experience. Business hours for this exempt position are 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. The position requires a minimum of 60-90 days of in-office training. After successfully completing this period, the role will transition to a hybrid schedule with one in-office day required per week. Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal representation and counsel to Condominium, Homeowner, and Townhome Associations.
  • Conduct legal research and review documents to support client matters.
  • Draft, finalize, and record governing documents, opinion letters, and violation demand letters.
  • Advise Boards of Directors on governance issues, statutes, and compliance with governing documents.
  • Attend client Board meetings to provide legal guidance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of condominium statutes.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deliver timely follow-up to Principal Attorneys and clients.
  • Participate in all Continuing Legal Education training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
