Looking for a great career advancement opportunity? The Office of Service Review in the Department of Health & Human Services is looking for an individual with at least 2 years of Child Protective Services (CPS) experience. This job would allow you to expand your CPS knowledge, skill set and take on additional leadership duties. You would work with community partners statewide including law enforcement, DCFS, JJYS, DSPD, licensing and other state and community professionals.

Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:

  • Perform standard statewide field investigations of abuse and neglect referrals and assess safety of child(ren) involved.
  • Coordinate with community partners;
  • Prepare comprehensive and detailed case documentation;
  • Provide consultation and make recommendations for ongoing safety to other agencies;
  • Develop safety plans to alleviate risk, provide protection, etc.;
  • Testify in court or administrative hearings; may act as an expert witness;
  • Attend regular team staff meetings
  • Travel throughout the state to complete investigation(s).
  • Available to work on call 1 weekend a month through a rotation system with the possibility of weeknights on occasion.

Qualifications


Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

  • Work hybrid schedule with two days (minimum) a week required in office
  • At least 1 years or more years experience with CPS investigative experience within Utah DCFS.
  • Understanding of current Utah DCFS child protective services case process practice and procedure guidelines.
  • Able to write clear and concise reports and case notes.
  • Is able to work with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
  • Communicates effectively, clearly, and concisely verbally and in writing.


Preferred qualifications:

  • Has a current Utah Social Service Worker (SSW) license;
  • Is a certified forensic interviewer;
  • Demonstrated experience as an ongoing worker within the Division of Child & Family Services;
  • Is adept at interacting professionally with all levels of management while managing a diversified workload and challenging situations;
  • Proven ability to assess and resolve escalated situations;
  • Comfortable and proficient in providing testimony and being an expert witness in legal proceedings;
  • Enjoys collaborating and interacting effectively with a variety of people;
  • Dedicated and passionate commitment to ensure safety of children.
