Description
The Legislative Research Commission is accepting applications for the position of Constituent Services Analyst in the Constituent Services Department. This position is nonpartisan in nature and requires the ability to work with neutrality in a politically charged environment.

The Legislative Research Commission provides staff support to the Kentucky General Assembly. The agency offers unique opportunities to people seeking fulfilling, challenging, and rewarding careers. This is a permanent, full-time position with benefits including health and life insurance; retirement plan; and paid holidays, vacation, and sick days. Compensatory time is awarded on an hour-for-hour basis with prior approval.

Job Duties:
  • Assist in maintaining an updated computer database of contacts.
  • Work assigned cases referred by legislators.
  • Accurately input data in Constituent Assistance System.
  • Work with large data files to create, log, cross-reference, and track cases.
  • Research local, state, and federal laws and programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of current events.
  • Contact constituents for information in a timely manner.
  • Contact agencies, committee staff, and other outside institutions for assistance or information.
  • Develop local, state, and federal contacts.
  • Communicate effectively with constituents, legislators, and agency contacts.
  • Effectively communicate complex and sensitive details through written and verbal communication.
  • Work within the framework of ethics laws to provide legislative constituent services.
  • Use problem-solving skills to effectively approach difficult issues.
  • Assist other staff as needed to maintain continuity of services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency with current office technology, including office IT general business software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, staff, legislators, and the public.
  • Basic knowledge of the legislative process and working knowledge of local, state, and federal public agencies.
  • Background in state or local government is preferred
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in public policy, social work, communications, or related field


EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Knowledge base generally acquired from a college degree or equivalent training. Limited relevant experience may be required.
