Construction Contractor Coordinator

What You'll Be Doing

Job Summary: Generally responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing onsite contractor activities within an industrial facility. This role ensures that contractors perform work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The coordinator acts as the primary point of contact between internal teams and external contracting partners. This position will be performed onsite at an industrial facility in Savannah, GA.

Key Responsibilities - Contractor Management & Coordination

  • Serve as the central liaison between the plant team and third-party contractors.
  • Schedule contractor activities based on operational priorities, project timelines, and resource availability.
  • Verify contractor qualifications, certifications, and required documentation before work begins.
  • Coordinate site access, work permits, and required orientations.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure all contractor activities comply with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Conduct safety briefings, job hazard analysis documents (JHAs), and pre-task meetings.
  • Monitor contractor work to enforce company safety policies and correct unsafe behaviors.
  • Maintain accurate records of permits, safety incidents, and contractor performance.

Communication & Documentation:

  • Maintain daily logs of contractor activities and progress.
  • Prepare reports for management regarding contractor performance, status updates, and key issues.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, operations, and safety teams to align work priorities.
  • Manage contractor check-in/check-out procedures and verify completion of required paperwork.

Cost & Resource Management:

  • Review contractor timesheets, invoices, and change order requests.
  • Track labor, equipment, and materials usage to stay within budget.
  • Assist in evaluating bids and negotiating contracts when required.

Qualifications: - Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in industrial technology, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial environment (manufacturing, utilities, refinery, construction, etc.).
  • Previous experience coordinating contractors or supervising industrial work strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of industrial safety standards (OSHA, NFPA, lockout/tagout, confined space, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, P&IDs, and work scopes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments including fieldwork, elevated areas, and confined spaces.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk long distances within industrial facilities.
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work around heavy machinery.
  • Ability to wear required PPE (hard hat, gloves, respirator, safety glasses, etc.).
