Role Purpose
The Construction Engineer is responsible for managing and executing on-site construction activities for solar projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality installations, optimizing construction processes, and providing technical field support to ensure superior product performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Accountabilities
Technical Support & Execution

Provide on-site technical support and supervision to ensure smooth execution of solar construction projects and optimal system performance.

Ensure adherence to design, engineering, and quality specifications throughout installation and commissioning.
Design & Schematic Interpretation

Review and interpret civil, structural, and electrical drawings and schematics to guide construction and installation teams.
Safety Compliance

Enforce full compliance with OSHA regulations and internal HSE standards.

Conduct and document safety meetings, ensuring all team members and subcontractors follow proper safety procedures.
Project Planning & Coordination

Participate in project preplanning, including reviewing construction schedules, manpower needs, materials, and subcontractor scopes.

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to maintain workflow efficiency and ensure timely project delivery.
Reporting & Documentation

Prepare daily reports detailing progress, materials, technical issues, manpower, and site activities.

Maintain accurate records of inspections, tool usage, and compliance reports.
Team Supervision & Training

Supervise subcontractors, electricians, and field labor to ensure adherence to project specifications and timelines.

Train and support workforce teams on safe work practices, quality control standards, and equipment handling.
Equipment & Tool Management

Set up and maintain specialized tools and heavy equipment (e.g., forklifts, scissor lifts, laser levels).

Train staff on proper use and maintenance of tools to ensure operational safety and reliability.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
-
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
Experience:
-
5–8 years of construction or site engineering experience, preferably in solar tracker or renewable energy projects.
Technical Skills & Competencies
-
Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.

Proficient in the use of heavy equipment (Forklifts, Reach Lifts, Bobcats, Scissor Lifts).

Skilled with basic surveying tools (Laser Levels, Transits, etc.).

Excellent knowledge of construction math and project management principles.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic construction software tools.

Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage large on-site teams.

Proven track record of delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.
-
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and willing to travel extensively (up to 100%).

Prior experience in solar or renewable energy projects is highly desirable.
