Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This Construction Engineer (EA III) position works in the District One office located in Wamego, KS. This position will administer numerous construction contracts to ensure that the work is being performed per legal requirements and desired quality is achieved.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

• Provides engineering guidance and administration for the construction of highway and related construction projects.
• Supervises other engineering associates and engineering technicians in the administration of contract provisions for highway construction work.
• Performs routine office duties consisting of the review and approval of numerous project reports, pay estimates, documentation procedures, personnel payrolls and reports, equipment, etc.
• Meets and confers with utility owners, general public and other agencies to coordinate their interests in DOT projects.
• Provides engineering supervision of field surveys, project design, plan preparation and other duties as assigned.
• Directs the training of personnel under his/her supervision and encourages self-development and achievement of these employees.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Four years of direct experience in Engineering.
• Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
• Engineering in Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate.
• Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment.

Post-Offer/Pre-employment Requirements:

• This position is subject to pre-employment physical capacity testing. The selected candidate will be required to pass the screening as a condition of employment.
