POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Construction Engineer at LJA Land Development, you will assist a region specializing in construction services on Land Development projects. You will help provide services that include Contract Administration, Construction Consulting, Construction Engineering & Inspection, Construction Management, QA/QC, Utility Coordination, Scheduling, and Pay Application/Change Order Review.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

• Reviewing and understanding plans for single-family residential and site development projects for constructability.
• Performing bid quantity take-offs, preparing bid schedules, and developing Engineers Opinions of Construction Costs.
• Preparing and attending pre-bid, bid opening, and pre-construction meetings.
• Reviewing contractor material and shop drawing submittals for water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and paving.
• Attending construction meetings and maintaining project schedules.
• Coordinating with land development project managers in preparation of reports and correspondence.
• Reviewing pay applications and change order requests, including verifying billed quantities through site visits.
• Scheduling and attending final inspections and preparing punch lists.
• Assisting with contract closeout processes and maintenance bond inspections.
• Coordinating with municipalities, special districts, and other consultants.
• Performing drone photography of construction projects.
• Splitting time between office and project sites.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
• Must have a clear driving record (a DMV check will be conducted).
• Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, or the ability to obtain one.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2–5 years of experience in Land Development Engineering or Construction.
• Ability to perform work safely and proficiently on active jobsites.
• Professional communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
• Strong team collaboration and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to travel within the Dallas–Fort Worth area (no overnight travel; vehicle provided).
• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and occasionally on non-standard hours/days.

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:

• Experience coordinating with municipalities, special districts, and public agencies.
• Knowledge of pay application and change order review processes.
• Familiarity with construction inspection, contract administration, and project closeout documentation.
• Interest or experience in drone-based project documentation and aerial data capture.
