CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR
Luxury Custom Residential Construction
Sutton Construction, Inc. – Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi

Sutton Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. We specialize in complex, architecturally detailed custom homes throughout Oʻahu and are looking for someone who can develop thorough, accurate, and well-organized estimates from preconstruction through final contract pricing.

The ideal candidate understands residential construction, reads plans and specifications confidently, and can collaborate effectively with architects, designers, subcontractors, vendors, and our internal project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Review architectural, structural, civil, landscape, interior-design, and consultant documents
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, estimates, budgets, and bid comparisons
• Develop scopes of work and solicit competitive subcontractor and supplier proposals
• Identify scope gaps, coordination issues, allowances, exclusions, and project risks
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and pricing history
• Assist with value engineering and constructability reviews
• Support project handoff from estimating to the project-management and field teams
• Communicate clearly with subcontractors, consultants, and clients throughout preconstruction

Preferred Qualifications

• Estimating or project-management experience in custom residential construction
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and trade scopes
• Ability to interpret detailed plans and specifications
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and construction estimating software; experience with Bluebeam and Buildertrend is a plus
• Strong organization, communication, and follow-through
• Detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple bid deadlines
• Familiarity with Hawaiʻi construction practices, subcontractors, and material procurement is preferred
