The Construction Manager – Fiber Splicing is responsible for overseeing all fiber splicing operations within assigned projects. This role ensures that splicing activities are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with company standards and client specifications. The Construction Manager will supervise splicing crews, coordinate with field and project teams, and maintain quality control across all fiber deployment activities.
Manage and oversee daily fiber splicing operations (aerial and underground).
Supervise internal splicing crews and subcontractors.
Review and interpret fiber design maps, splice matrices, and schematics.
Ensure proper fiber testing (OTDR, power meter testing) and documentation.
Coordinate schedules to meet project deadlines and production targets.
Conduct quality control inspections on completed splicing work.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and client requirements.
Monitor project budgets and control labor/material costs related to splicing.
Work closely with Project Managers, Field Supervisors, and clients to resolve issues in real time.
Verify accurate as-builts and documentation submission.
Lead pre-construction meetings and provide field-level problem resolution.
5+ years of telecom construction experience with strong fiber splicing background.
2+ years in a supervisory or management role preferred.
Hands-on experience with single-mode fiber splicing.
Proficient in reading fiber prints, splice diagrams, and network design maps.
Experience with OTDR testing and troubleshooting fiber networks.
Knowledge of aerial and underground fiber construction methods.
Strong understanding of safety regulations (OSHA standards preferred).
Ability to manage multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
Valid driver’s license required.
Experience working with major telecom providers (e.g., AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, Charter, etc.).
Familiarity with project management tools and construction tracking systems.
Strong network of subcontractors and local crews (a plus).
