Construction Materials Testing Laboratory Technician – Entry Level

Inspection Services is a materials engineering firm dedicated to construction inspection and materials testing. Our laboratory and headquarters are in Berkeley, and our team of roughly 55 staff members consists of inspectors, technicians, engineers, administrative personnel. ISI’s clients are typically private developers, general contractors, hospitals, school districts and public agencies. ISI is currently seeking a qualified candidate to join our dynamic laboratory team. This position will add to our current roster of four full-time lab staff. We are emphasizing culture fit, and are happy to train a collaborative, dedicated professional, new to this career.

This is a union position! ISI is signatory to Operating Engineers Local 3, and offer competitive wages and benefits.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

- High school diploma

- Excellent communication and organizational skills

- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, standards, codes, specifications

- Working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook

- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position such as standing lifting up to 40lbs. climbing ladders, bending, squatting, and crawling in tight spaces.

Prior materials testing experience or certification in various laboratory disciplines (ACI, NICET, Caltrans) welcome, but not required.

Daily Tasks

- Sample receiving, preparation, and physical testing per project specifications and standard test methods

- Test result documentation

- Coordinating with field inspectors/subcontractors for their equipment and technical needs

- Facilities and Equipment maintenance, in-house calibrations, and cleaning

The successful candidate must pass a post-offer physical, and drug screening.

Pay: $33.76 - $61.39 per hour
