RK Roofing & Construction Inc, a premier California roofing contractor, is looking for a detail-oriented bookkeeper/project accountant to join our team. Job Requirements/Responsibilities:
In this position, you won't just be \"doing the books.\" You’ll be the financial backbone of our projects, ensuring every nail is accounted for and every crew member is paid accurately. You’ll work closely with management to provide the data they need to strategically grow the company and meet production goals profitably.
- Accounts Payable & Reconciliation:
- Complete data entry for vendor and company overhead invoices
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, loan statements, and credit cards.
- Perform weekly reconciliations of major vendor credit accounts.
- Prepare accurate weekly Accounts Payable report for management.
- Job Costing & Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze detailed job costing reports for every completed project.
- Compare job costs against estimates to help identify variances and improve future bidding.
- Certified Payroll & Compliance:
- Prepare bi-weekly payroll.
- Ensure strict compliance with California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) standards as applicable.
- Submit timely CPR reports via LCPtracker, Elations, DIR or similar labor compliance software as required by each client.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare month-end closing reports
- Provide documentation to CPA for annual audits and tax returns.
- Provide regular, accurate financial reports to management as requested, including EBITDA analysis.
Qualifications:
- At least 2–3 years of accounting experience specifically within the construction industry. Must possess a strong theoretical foundation in accounting (debits/credits, accrual vs. cash basis) beyond software-specific workflows.
- Candidate must be able to demonstrate an understanding of financial statement preparation and the general ledger cycle. Applicants with solely “on the job” training need not apply.
- Possess solid understanding of California Prevailing Wage laws and certified payroll reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in Quickbooks, advanced Excel skills, CPR reporting platforms (Elations, LCP Tracker, CA DIR).
- Be organized, comfortable with deadlines, and detail-oriented.
- Possess communication skills to effectively interact with project management staff and executive leadership.
Applicant will be expected to work in person at our downtown San Leandro office.
Compensation is $28-$50 per hour, commensurate with experience. This position can be part-time, full-time or in between, depending on experience. We are an equal opportunity employer.
