Construction Project Engineer

Full Job Description:

Assist in day-to-day supervised activities related to the development of a K12 construction project, business and project financial management, project safety protocols, quality control, and project coordination and lifecycle.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:
Depending on project need and location, you will be supervised and assigned to work at an active K12 school construction project site, or a main office assisting in preconstruction, construction management and closeout.

  • Support project team with meeting coordination, file management, document control, and progress reporting.
  • Provide progress reports to supervisor and be receptive to learning about construction management.
  • Relate and apply the knowledge acquired in the academic setting to the company/project setting.
  • Maintain professional relationships with employees, customers, clients, and contractors.
  • Participate in training, meetings, and orientation.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Based on the assignment, the following activities may be performed:

  • Assist with project start-up activities and provide support to all Managers
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of information for contract requirements to appropriate parties.
  • Attend project site visits daily to observe and document construction field activities.
  • Attend Meetings and take clear, concise, and organized notes
  • Assist with Meeting Minutes, Log Preparation (RFI, Submittal, CCD)
  • Assist with monitoring and ensuring the resolution of any issues that are presented
  • Assist with updating and monitoring client software/databases.
  • Assist with collecting and reviewing project close-out requirements and contractor completion of punch lists.

Qualifications:

  • College or university-accredited construction management, engineering, or architecture degree
  • Experience working in K12 construction.
  • Flexible to work standard business hours and overtime as determined by assignment
  • Professional and clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Assume personal and professional accountability for own actions and activities
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn and participate
  • Able to work independently, with direction and supervision, and in a team environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Able to take direction, learn and process information quickly, follow tasks through to completion
  • Basic computer and data entry skills and familiar with Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Familiarity with project drawings, and specifications, desired
  • Travel may be required, access to reliable transportation required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally travel both short and long distances via a variety of conveyances, and performs work at on-site construction work sites, office locations, and/or off-site venues. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly work in an office setting. The noise in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work at construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Travel Requirements

  • This position is typically remote/on-site at various project sites throughout northern California. Ability to legally drive a motorized vehicle in California is required. A Valid Motor Vehicle Record with no restrictions or suspensions is required

Background Check:

  • As our clientele is majority public K12 entities, our employees will be required to pass background clearances prior to entering a jobsite.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
